...for people on Postcrossing. Very different techniques, because I enjoy some variety.

Baum-kl

This tree is a classic fineliner sketch painted with watercolors. Most of the drawing was done in the park during lunch time, but I did the last color layer later. (Had to let things dry!) Of course, I used spray varnish in the end, so the thing is sort-of-safe to mail.

oktopus-kl

And this little underwater scene is a combination of acrylic paints (mostly smeared with my fingers, because that gives me more control than paintbrushes, and besides, it's fun!) and acrylic markers.

This fairy is again made with the help of the craft materials sent to me by Up-Quark.

Stuff I used:
- Flower nail stickers
- Felt (as the fairy's dress)
- Pressed clover
- Hexagonal nail glitter
- Wire (for the fairy's belt and jewelry)
- Green tracing paper (for fairy jewelry and butterflies)

I just couldn't resist the pressed clover and had to make a meadow scene! The nail sticker flowers were also a good fit - of course I added a lot of flowers in the same style. The coloring was mainly done with acrylic paints and acrylic pens.

The card is decidedly 3D: the fairy is cut out and glued to the background, as are the small transparent paper butterflies and the slightly larger flower on the right. And the dress is naturally a bit thicker anyway. So the wire decoration is almost no longer noticeable... XD I sealed the whole thing with acrylic spray varnish to protect it, otherwise the delicate pressed plant material wouldn't stand a chance.

Two more postcards for Postcrossing. Simple flowers, my comfort zone - I can produce these reasonably fast.

daffodil-m

Magnolia-m

The daffodil actually does not involve any watercolor - that's transparent acrylics with lots of water. The magnolia is colored with watercolors, in the same style. The preliminary drawings and final highlights were done with acrylic pens.

This is a painting I made for [personal profile] makkapakka. Originally, it was supposed to be square format, so most of the motif is centered in the middle - but I don't own any square watercolor paper, so... I filled the rest of the format, too.

The size of the painting is A6 (postcard size). I used a variety of materials, here: the drawing was made with black fineliners including a broad chisel-tipped one. The coloration was done mainly with watercolors (different manufacturers), with some acrylics and acrylic pens for highlights and to correct "mistakes" (especially on the yellow pieces) where I accidentally overpainted. The white sparkle is acrylic ink.

I really like the result, and I think the next time I get postcards printed this will be one of the pictures... Because, clearly, I'm suffering from a lack of chess postcards. LOL

I drew this ATC last week but somehow forgot to upload it here. This is a very German dragon: guarding a hoard of gold, eating the (anti-)heroes who are after that treasure, and everything. :)

Good news: I'm doing art again! I know I still owe cards and stuff to people, those are next; this one was to get me started again! It's fountain pen (the Duke Confucius with waterproof black ink), watercolors and acrylics on watercolor paper.

Winter-Robin-kl

It's a very kitschy robin, and prints of this picture will be my seasonal postcard this year. (There will be handmade cards going out, too, but I can't make hundreds of them. LOL) Anyway... I'm just glad that, after the world's worst artists' block, I was able to produce something again!

If anyone wants to receive one of these postcards, just leave a comment! :) I like sending cheerful mail!
