It's that time of the year - I may not celebrate Christmas, but I celebrate everything around Christmas, just because. (Yes, I have an Advent calendar again, too. Okay, three Advent calendars. (In exchanges with artist friends, because store-bought calendars are boring.) You get the idea. I really like all the Christmas-y stuff!) Part of that is, of course, the food. So, here's some very classical Christmas baking! (Hazelnuts! Orange marmalade! YAY!) A bit early, but... I don't care. The supermarkets are starting to play that awful music, so, if I have to live with that, at least I can have the good stuff of the season as well, right?

Boyfriend already made an Advent wreath last weekend! (No candles, just branches and glittery stuff.) He met with some friends and they crafted together. :)

And I baked.

Just in case you are interested in the (very simple) recipe...

Ingredients:

Dough:
- 175 g wheat flour (type 405)
- 125 g ground hazelnuts (almonds will work as well)
- 100 g sugar
- 125 g butter (room temperature, soft)
- 1 egg
- a pinch of salt

Other stuff:
- Orange marmalade (if that's too bitter for your taste, quince will work as well)
- Icing (icing sugar and water)

Preparation:

- Knead the dough, form a ball and put it in the fridge for half an hour or so.

- Form two rolls (each 25-30 cm long) and put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten them a bit.

- Pre-heat the oven to ~ 170°C. Bake for 10 minutes or so.

- Take a spoon or something and make a shallow trough in the middle of the rolls. Fill that with orange marmelade.

- Put back in the oven and bake for another 10 minutes or so.

- Take out, wait half an hour, then pour a bit of icing over the marmelade filling.

- Cut while it's still warm. (This is important! If you wait too long before cutting, it gets harder and more crumbly. Still needs to be slightly warm in order to get clean slices.)

- Let it cool.

- Eat!

These... Won't survive long... XDD

These also sound really tasty. I prefer celebrating cookie season to Christmas season.
