These ATCs are all collaborations with other artists - some are drawings by others which I colored; some are my drawings colored by someone else. (It's easy to recognize my drawings: they're the flowers... duh.) We had this swap on kakao-karten.de where everyone sent their linearts to the organizer of the event and then were assigned more-or-less-randomly the linearts we were supposed to color in. (It wasn't entirely random although we didn't get to choose. I did, however, receive drawings suspiciously close to my comfort zone so I think the organizer paid attention to what everybody likes.) I love collaborating on pictures, it's a great way to practice styles and subjects I'm not all that familiar with. I always enjoy learning new things! :)

Lineart by Q-ni, color by me - yeah, I don't think I received the only lineart involving chess (and other board games) completely at random... LOL It was fun opening the envelope with the linearts and finding this inside! I had a lot of fun coloring it although the color scheme isn't particularly, uh, original... But then, there are only so many reasonable colors for a chessboard... It's basically wood or plastic, and I prefer wood. (The wood texture was done with... well, [personal profile] yhlee can probably imagine which paintbrush I used.)

Lineart by me, color by Q-ni - it's fun that she also received one of my linearts when I received one of hers! Also, she chose an interesting light situation that would not have occurred to me when I drew these bromeliads. On my own, I would probably have chosen brighter colors, ehehe - but this works as well. I'm very happy with what became of this card! (Also, it's encouraging me to experiment with muted colors some more.)

Lineart by Lesath_Lux, color by me - whew, this one was difficult! It's a subject that I wouldn't ever have drawn when left to my own devices, so it was extremely hard for me to do the drawing justice. In the end, I decided on a strong complementary contrast simply because I was clueless what else to do. (It's not as if I didn't like the drawing - far from it - it's just unfamiliar. I'm extremely glad I received this lineart to work with because I sure learned a lot here!)

Lineart by me, color by star-behind-the-moon - ohhhh, this turned out fun! :D I did this fairly conventional drawing of magnolias, and star chose to color it as this wonderful, shiny space art thingy with lots of metallic colors... Hell yeah! I love love LOVE sparkle (although I don't use it quite this excessively in my botanical art) and I only regret that I only get to see the scan of this and not the original in all its glittery glory.

Lineart by Lissychan, color by me - as far as fantasy illustratons go, this was again fairly close to my comfort zone, although at first I was a bit intimidated by all that detail on this small format. Still, I immediately knew what I wanted the finished picture to look like (it was, literally, immediately there), and it was enjoyable and relaxing to work on it. It's just the kind of picture I'm comfortable with.

Lineart by me, color by fenschu - here, I was quite surprised by the final result, because it looks almost exactly as if I'd colored it myself, and with collaborations, that almost never happens. But then again, fenschu admittedly used my gallery as reference how to go about coloring plant close-ups, so... Yeah. XD

Lineart by Schatten, color by me - I received some extremely amused comments on this because the color looks nothing like what I usually do. The drawing reminded me of something like a fairy-tale or a children's book, so I decided to color the picture accordingly. Definitely not my comfort zone, but I learned a lot about composition while trying to handle this without any actual darks! (And without aerial perspective, too - in this case that's quite intentional; you usually avoid that kind of thing in children's illustrations.)
