Fern, and fun with backlighting. So much fun!



Materials I used:
Stillman&Birn Zeta Series sketchbook (270 g/m²)
Watercolors: Turner Permanent Lemon (PY109), Mijello Bamboo Green (PG36), Daniel Smith Jadeite Genuine, Schmincke Horadam YInMn-Blue
White gel pens (Pentel and Sakura)

Oh gosh, I love that - I have not seen ferns in years despite living in a swamp state but you've really captured that glow through the leaves.

Funny coincidence, I decided to break out Jadeite Genuine as a(n inconvenience) green to supplement PG7 on my travel palette. :)

I saw these ferns in the park - they were quite early; the ferns in our yard are not doing anything yet. But, yeah, I've always loved the classic fern glowy-glowy-glow. :D

Jadeite Genuine is a weird color. I think it already contains some PG7, but it also has some granulating stuff that may or may not be jadeite... No idea. It seems to be a bit dark for this particular mineral. But then, we know the company cheats with their ingredients, so... XD A fun mystery. I kind of like that it creates dark tones that go almost into black, that's useful.

:D :D I adore ferns; we got them a lot in Korea. :)

Now I want to see if I can make "fake jadeite" with, like, PG7 + some rando PBr7 + PBk11...
