Swan Lake

Fanart. Because, hey, I like ballet. (I quit dancing because it turned out I love chess that crucial bit more, but that doesn't mean I quit watching...)



This is again a papercut postcard, though it's not sent to anyone yet. Was intended for Postcrossing, but... I like it a bit too much to send it to a random stranger. (I guess I'm just not nice enough. I've sent original papercuts, but only much simpler ones.) I may get prints of this one, though. It's a design that I enjoy.

Mh, no, I don't frame my own art - I only frame other people's art... Which is a bit of an understatement, because it means I kind of live in a fanart shrine of drawings, collages and sculptures (!) that other people did of my characters. (People create weird fanart sometimes. My works apparently invite it.) No reason to add my own art into the mix...
If I keep this thing, it will likely disappear into some folder. (And, I mean, I throw 90% of my finished art away because space is finite.) Which means... I should probably just send it to some random person who likes ballet. Postcrossing: my personal waste paper disposal. XDD

Oh, I don't know, it would be nicer with moving shadows... But I'm not going to try that! XD YAY for dancing swans. (That ballet is pure awesomeness, right?)

The music of Swan Lake is what made me imprint on Tchaikovsky/want to compose. XD My dad used to take us to the ballet once a year. :3 I'd read storybooks and ballet books about it. My sister gave me a music box that plays part of the ballet theme. XD

I am, of course, even more into the choreography than into the music - but, yeah. There's a reason even people who don't regularly go to the ballet know this one. XD

:D My favorite production that I attended in person was an ultra-traditional production by a Russian troupe who was touring in Boston. Joe has zero interest in ballet, but a friend of mine who had never been to the ballet and wanted to try it went with me, so he and I had a good time. :)

...whereas I, of course, am a regular visitor of the Staatsoper Hamburg. I remember being very impressed as a little girl. (Also, I remember all the angry looks a little kid in the audience gets - but hey, Baby!Eller was professionally interested, LOL)

It is nice to see a normal coloured Swan. White Swans freak me out a bit, Black ones are normal where I live.

Whereas the famous Alster swans in Hamburg, where I live, are white. (They're documented since 15-something, and there's still a funny old law that no one bothered to remove that forbids insulting them...)
