Roasted dandelion root tea gets the award for worst drink ever... Seriously, I was trying, but simply couldn't finish drinking that. It was an interesting new experience, though, which is of course what I'm living for. XD Randomized* bad tea is still better than predictable tea I predictably like... So after I poured that one away (and it's really rare that I actually refuse to drink something) I made the next one, which is black tea with rose flavor. Which is technically not bad or anything, but the smell reminds me of soap.

On another note, my scanner has decided to go on strike** so I'm still unable to show my new Inktober sketches. (I'm still faithfully following the list, though!) I'm also having a lot of fun with doodling the characters from Ninefox Gambit, although "fun" in this case doesn't imply "presentable results".

Instead, just because I haven't uploaded any art in a while, I'll show something that I made almost exactly two years ago. It's again a watercolor plant ATC, so 6.4x8.9cm. It went into print in a multi-artist table calendar project which I'd probably not have joined if I'd known beforehand who else would be involved. Basically, I was almost the only hobbyist*** in between some Really Scary Famous People, which the nice person**** organizing the whole thing failed to tell me over the phone; I thought she was just randomly contacting people she'd met at conventions and gotten along with. Also, she explicitly requested an "Eller flower painting", without telling me that everyone else would do something from the genres manga, fantasy illustration, game art (I think one of the ladies involved usually does M:TG illustrations) and so on. The result is that my picture sticks out like a sore thumb in that project, because all the others are a) from an entirely different genre, and b) much better at painting. Way to embarrass myself. Oh well. I did my best... (Actually, I still like it even two years later although technique-wise I've improved a bit by now and I see all the f***-ups in the image... Ehehehe.)

*I approach grocery shopping in a purely stochastical manner. My boyfriend occasionally complains because he's the one who has to cook with whatever new atrocity he finds in the kitchen, but otherwise we'd eat the same things almost every week.

Oh, I love how vivid the colors are! It almost seems to glow. :D

I've actually drunk dandelion juice made of the flowers, but I was six years old and we were making "juice" by mashing flowers into water. When it came time to actually drink the concoction, I was the only one brave/stupid enough to do so...my friends declined. It is as well that dandelions are edible because I could have been poisoned!

(Dandelion flower juice tastes kind of like honey, interestingly enough. It was sweet and quite palatable. Still, drinking the juices of random plants is probably not to be encouraged in small children.)

Oh man, sympathies on the scanner...is there any chance something like VueScan might revive it? (It revived my scanner after it mysteriously stopped scanning with the default drivers.)

:)

The first time I had edible flowers in a salad, I was surprised that they tasted basically like...leaves. Then I thought about it and realized that a petal is really a sort of specialized leaf, so this made sense. XD
