Red on pink, just for fun

aliax_alexandre challenged me to draw something red on pink. Uh...




Unfortunately, the only pink paper I could find was in here:



...and that's about as far removed from watercolor paper as it gets. XD So this is not serious "art" but just an attempt to see what red on pink would look like, theoretically, if I could find good pink paper somewhere...

2) ... I don't think I understood much about this explanation, other than once again, you think in colour while I think in greyscale.

3) Yeah, I didn't see you as a pencil person. Watercolour pencils, maybe :P

2) ...uh. People perceive shadows tinted in the complementary color of the light that cast them, so for red shadows, a turquoise-ish or cyan-ish light source is kind of implicit?!?

3) Not even watercolor pencils. They're too thin for me to hold comfortably. Even with fountain pens, I prefer the thicker ones. ...maybe at some point I'll post some wax crayon drawings. I like wax crayons.

I think the first one who actually wrote that thing about shadows down was Leonardo da Vinci. The guy had a weird writing style but is generally a reliable source when it comes to color perception. One of the very few who actually knew what they're talking about. :D

Yes, but as far as I know, wax crayons are also not your usual style, so... :P

Yes, he was. Which is why I'm inclined to take his ramblings about color seriously even when it sounds completely insane. :D

I personally don't care if something sounds insane. I care if it works. And then I try to figure out how the hell it can work :D

Wax crayons drive me insane. I'll take pencils over them any day :P

Yeah, same here. Most of the really good ideas sound insane at first, anyway! And if it works, it works. (It's not as if I sound sane when I tell people I use Tarot cards for programming!)

I haven't done anything with pencils in a veeeery long time. Mhhh.... :D

Random input for brainstorming. Anything that calls up weird and creative associations will work - Tarot cards, runes, WHATEVER. And yes, being a predictive modeller, I've heard all the divination jokes...

That's what I figured, but I wasn't sure. My brain does that naturally: take two things, oh hey, look, a third one :P ! I'd be all over the place if I tried to do it on purpose. I need to focus on just one thing at a time instead :D

As for divination: let me introduce you to my sister, who has an ability to predict events and outcomes that can be outright spooky sometimes - but which just comes from noticing A and B and C and putting them together in the right order.
